The simple answer is yes, as long as the LED bulb uses less wattage than your fixture. If your socket says not to exceed 60-Watts, it is referring the dangers of high heat output associated with incandescent bulbs. However, LED’s do not emit dangerous levels of heat.
Do LED lights use AC or DC power?
LEDs are usually considered to be DC devices, operating from a few volts of direct current. To run an LED-based fixture from a mains supply (e.g. 120 V AC) requires electronics between the supply and the devices themselves to provide a DC voltage (e.g. 12 V DC) capable of driving several LEDs.
