What is the strongest shape for nails?

Square. Straighter on the sides and blunt across the top, square nails are best on smaller nail beds; when worn on a wide nail bed, the hands can look stocky or stubby.

Oval. Oval nails convey a feminine, classic look.

If you go longer than two weeks, your acrylics will grow out, making them easier to damage. If you fail to keep up with routine fills, your nail technician will have to break off your acrylics and start from scratch, which is also worse for your real nails in the long run.

If there is nothing to fix, it can take about 30–45 minutes, but if there are broken nails or bad lifting, it could take 1.5hrs or more.

We live by the mantra: “A manicure a week keeps chipped nail polish at bay.” The reality is that nails do not actually “breathe,” as they receive their nutrients and oxygen from the blood stream and not the air, according to board certified dermatologist and nail specialist Dr. Dana Stern.

The potential for a cost savings is high. Salons charge anywhere from $35 to $45 dollars for a gel nail polish manicure; stores are selling “gel” polish for less than $10.

There is a difference between gel nails and gel polish nails. If you mean gel polish (thin color coat) it is a service that needs to be completely removed and reapplied every 2-3 weeks. Hard or soft gel meant to lengthen or strengthen as an overlay can be rebalanced (filled) every two to three weeks as well.

Most salons range in price from about $30 – $60 for a full set of new acrylic nails. Monthly fill-ins will generally be half the cost of a new set, anywhere from $15 – $30.
